Brand new Nova Star cruise to sail the Gulf of Maine

Starting May 15th New England and Nova Scotia, Canada will be connected with a brand new cruise-style ferry, named Nova Star. The vessel will embark on a 10-hour daily trip between Portland, ME and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and will offer a variety of dining options, casino, spa and live entertainment.

The prices are as low as $79 per person and $39 per child, based on the season. Children under 5 will travel for free. Nova Star has cabins that range from $79 to $199, based on the category, as well as recliner seats that can be purchased for as low as $39. Pets are allowed for extra $29. The cruise/ferry will transport non-commercial vehicles too. Prices start at $139 for a car and $79 for a motorcycle.

Nova Star will sail the Gulf of Maine during the summer. The ship will depart Portland at 9pm EST and will arrive at Yarmouth at 8am AST the next day. On the way back Nova Star will leave Yarmouth at 10am AST and will arrive at Portland terminal at 7pm EST. During the winter months the ship is expected to sail in the Caribbean Sea between Colombia and Panama, bypassing the Darién Gap.

The company, Nova Star Cruises, expects about 100,000 passengers for 2014.

The brand new Nova Star departed Singapore, where it was built, on March 15th, made a stop in Lisbon, Portugal on April 7th and currently should be in the Atlantic Ocean, headed toward Yarmouth with estimated arrival on April 15th.
