Must See Excursion: Cahal Pech, Belize

Cahal Pech is a two hour drive from the port of Belize City but it's worth every minute of the bumpy drive. It's a secluded oasis and a history lover's dream.

The ruins seem to grow alongside the jungle and the rocks almost blend in with the canopy floor. When you raise your eye level, you're met with staggeringly beautiful and austere temples.

Cahal Pech was once a Mayan village situated in what is now central Belize near San Ignacio. If you're staying for a few extra days in Belize, take a look through the Cayo District, where San Ignacio is located. It's got multiple ruin sites and great rivers to kayak and cliff jump into.
